The Latest

Today the G8 protests started at the Colosseum and ran to the Piazza Navona and our concierge said we should avoid that area. But because it was our last night in the city and we haven't seen the Piazza or the Pantheon we went there anyway and this is what we discovered...

We actually felt really safe with all the police and soldiers there. We hung out at the Pantheon for a while and continued on to the Piazza Navona. We actually had dinner on the Piazza at a very nice restaurant that gave us quite a discount for being brave enough to make it out. As soon as we finished dinner and paid our bill we heard the protesters rushing their way onto the Piazza and saw the police and soldiers preparing their riot gear so we headed out quickly and back through the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain and finished our evening at the Spanish Steps (I kept thinking - Kerry Shearer would be proud).
